Introducing the concluding remarks from the distinguished panellists, Dr Michael Makanga highlighted that the Forum had been a record-breaking event for EDCTP, with the highest ever number of delegates. His comments were echoed by Professor Harleen Grewal, Forum Scientific Programme Committee Chair.
The Honourable Minister Dr Tunji Alausa, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Nigeria, suggested that the events of the week had demonstrated a spirit of togetherness, determination and commitment not only to address infectious diseases in sub-Saharan Africa but also to collaborate with European counterparts.

At the Forum’s closing ceremony, a distinguished panel of speakers from Africa and Europe applauded EDCTP2’s work to date and looked forward to even greater successes through the Global Health EDCTP3 programme.
Dr Matshidiso Moeti, WHO Regional Director for Africa, highlighted how EDCTP and the WHO Regional Office for Africa have collaborated closely and confirmed that WHO would be an enthusiastic partner of Global Health EDCTP3.
In the final presentation to the Forum, the French Ambassador for Global Health, Anne-Claire Amprou, noted that France had been a founding EDCTP partner and had been strongly committed to EDCTP ever since. France was delighted to have hosted the Forum for the first time in Paris, under the patronage of President Emmanuel Macron.
